Hi Ryan! Thank you so much for your feedback. I am the one you spoke with, Ryan. What I always want to communicate to people who call us asking about prices for repair work is that you can always call around and find a "cheaper" price. You can call around until someone quotes you a number that you can live with. The reality is that the difference between a phone quote and the actual cost of the repair work is 30%, that's an industry average. That should tell you everything you need to know about the accuracy of phone quotes. Also, doing estimates is time consuming. We want to look after the clients that we have in our shop that day. Spending time doing phone quotes takes away from the time we should be spending on our current clients vehicles. They are our priority each and every day. The truth is that every shop has a different commitment to the quality of parts they use and the expertise of their technicians. This is why almost all of our repairs come with a 3 Year ... read more

Glenwood Auto Service has the ability to perform factory computer & electrical diagnostics on your Hyundai and Kia vehicle. You do not have to take your vehicle to the dealership. We pay a subscription to both Hyundai and Kia the same way the dealerships do. We have the Hyundai/Kia factory GDS Scan Tool (Global Diagnostic System) in our shop. If you need a check engine light or drive-ability problem diagnosed, Glenwood can handle it as good or better and with faster turn around time than your Hyundai & Kia dealership. You will most likely be able to book an appointment with us 2-4 days in advance as opposed to having to book 1-2 months in advance at the dealership (some dealerships are booking appointments that far in advance unfortunately). Safety & Savings Safety Low air pressure causes erratic and uneven wear and is the number one cause of tire failures. A properly inflated tire will extend tire casing life, resulting in less overheating and fewer blowouts. Low tire pressures increase required braking distance and dramatically affects steering and handling. Savings Tires that run 10% under-inflated lose up to 16% of their tread life, resulting in tires wearing out sooner than they should. Tires that run under-inflated by 30% lose up to 10% in fuel economy, resulting in more frequent trips to the gas station. The average downtime on the highway due to a flat tire is 3-4 hours

Here is a simple tip for someone who has a vehicle that is not driven a lot, or only makes short trips with their vehicle every couple days. The problem? If the vehicle is not driven a lot or not driven every day, the battery slowly drains, and it requires boosting on a regular basis. This in turn is hard on the battery and the alternator (an alternator is designed to maintain the charge on a fully charged battery, it is not designed to charge a low or dead battery). A simple solution is the installation of a battery maintainer or smart charger. A battery maintainer will not overcharge your battery, but will simply maintain the charge on the battery while you are away on holidays or in between short trips. A battery maintainer can be installed under the hood, and is simply plugged in the same way you would plug in your block heater

Today’s oil change intervals are too long for the long term health of your vehicles engine. We are seeing more and more engines failing due to these extended intervals. If you use conventional oil (non synthetic), we recommend an oil change be done every 5000km. If you use synthetic oil, we recommend changing your oil every 8000km (most makes & models). If the gunk in the engine oil gets too bad, the moving parts in the engine can get gummed up. An engine flush removes the gunk, which keeps the parts running smoothly. That in turn can make the engine more efficient, bringing the power and fuel efficiency closer to what the car had when it was new. Most oil filters remove particles as small as 25 microns (about 1/1000th of an inch) — but there are particles circulating in your car’s oil that are even smaller — particles that even the newest, best filter can’t keep out of the system. And even tiny little bits like that can cause wear over time. They ca ... read more
