Safety & Savings Safety Low air pressure causes erratic and uneven wear and is the number one cause of tire failures. A properly inflated tire will extend tire casing life, resulting in less overheating and fewer blowouts. Low tire pressures increase required braking distance and dramatically affects steering and handling. Savings Tires that run 10% under-inflated lose up to 16% of their tread life, resulting in tires wearing out sooner than they should. Tires that run under-inflated by 30% lose up to 10% in fuel economy, resulting in more frequent trips to the gas station. The average downtime on the highway due to a flat tire is 3-4 hours

Here is a simple tip for someone who has a vehicle that is not driven a lot, or only makes short trips with their vehicle every couple days. The problem? If the vehicle is not driven a lot or not driven every day, the battery slowly drains, and it requires boosting on a regular basis. This in turn is hard on the battery and the alternator (an alternator is designed to maintain the charge on a fully charged battery, it is not designed to charge a low or dead battery). A simple solution is the installation of a battery maintainer or smart charger. A battery maintainer will not overcharge your battery, but will simply maintain the charge on the battery while you are away on holidays or in between short trips. A battery maintainer can be installed under the hood, and is simply plugged in the same way you would plug in your block heater
