Here is a simple tip for someone who has a vehicle that is not driven a lot, or only makes short trips with their vehicle every couple days. The problem? If the vehicle is not driven a lot or not driven every day, the battery slowly drains, and it requires boosting on a regular basis. This in turn is hard on the battery and the alternator (an alternator is designed to maintain the charge on a fully charged battery, it is not designed to charge a low or dead battery). A simple solution is the installation of a battery maintainer or smart charger. A battery maintainer will not overcharge your battery, but will simply maintain the charge on the battery while you are away on holidays or in between short trips. A battery maintainer can be installed under the hood, and is simply plugged in the same way you would plug in your block heater.
